I, too, thought that the Savage might be coaxed into being a poor-man's tourer. It's not. With a few mods, she has plenty power for me, but I get blown all over the road by crosswinds. For the time being, she's my "parkway bike", and I don't rule out getting another bike in the future. But I won't get rid of her -- reliable as a brick, always gets more attention than a jap twin and most Harleys, and (with the Supertrapp) she scares the hell out of the SUV's and minivans that suround me in this neck of the woods.
Savages are great bikes. Just don't get them confused with Fatheads.
